Here is a detailed description of the wine route in Tuscany dedicated to the Chianti on the Florence Hills, or Colli Fiorentini. There are four routes that can be traveled within a half day car trip each, including all the necessary stops to get to know the salient spots and wonderful landscapes that characterize each one. Some indications: “SP” stands for Strada Provinciale, or regional road; “SS” is Strada Statale, or state road. The are indicated by blue road side street signs that signal the mileage and let you in any moment the route you are traveling on.
Route One
Depart from Florence, after Scandicci the road SP98 crosses the wooded hill of Roveta until San Vincenzo a Torri. From here take SP12 towards Ginestra. After passing the locality La Luna, you get to Lastra a Signa. From here take SS 67 along the Arno in Montelupo Fiorentino, from where you get the SP 73 that leads to Malmantile. On this wine route in Tuscany you will find vineyards, hills, crafts of various kinds and in particular of terracotta that are the main attractions of this area.
Route Two
Depart from Cerbaia on SP4 leading to Montagnana, where you take Via Romita that passes through San Quirico in Collina, San Pancrazio and Romita. Here you get on SS2 until Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and Barberino Val d’Elsa. The itinerary continues on SP49 towards Marcialla. From here the SP79 leads to Montespertoli and then to Baccaiano. This wine route in Tuscany is particularly dedicated to who appreciates the sweetness of the Florentine hills covered with grapes, olive groves, cypresses, and dotted by villas and castles.
Route Three
Departing from Florence towards Galluzzo and passing the Certosa, you get to Tavarnuzze where you get the SP69 towards Impruneta, then on the SP70 to San Gersolè. Alternatively, from Florence head towards San Felice a Ema then take the SP70 to San Gersolè. Taking municipal roads descend to Grassina, Ponte a Ema, and then to Bagno a Ripoli. When you get to San Donato in Collina take SP89 to Bombone. Here take the SP90 until Rosano in direction to Florence. Crossing the Arno the SS67 leads to Sieci. Here turn to Molin del Piano going up to Vetta le Croci. You get back to Florence through the historic center of Fiesole. This wine route in Tuscany is full of charm, vineyards, olive groves, crafts, history and monuments.
Route Four
Departing from Rignano sull’ Arno, pass through San Clemente and reach Sant’Ellero. From here climb towards Donnini, San Donato and eventually Reggello. Continue to Figline where you get the SP16 towards Ponte agli Stolli. Then follow the SS69 to Incisa Valdarno, where you get the SP1 bringing to San Donato in Collina, rejoining the Route Three. This wine route in Tuscany allows you to enjoy the beauty of the Arno valley on both sides, where you will meet many traditional agricultural products and handicrafts.
