I heard a lot about this unspoilt part of Tuscany. Then I stayed there for 2 weeks at the end of September 2009.
Let me say it is the best part: all panoramic roads, never traffic lights. All antique fortified towns are on to of mountains which frame large olive grove valleys… And then a great coast.
I stayed in a small historic resort named Caminino, which i found perfect for my experience. The position is strategic and the hospitality reflects all the character both of Maremma and Tuscany. It is owned and managed by an antique family of architects from Florence.
