Christmas is knocking on our doors, and all over Tuscany you see people getting ready for the 2008 celebration that everyone loves. Everyone feels as a little child at Christmas, and what’s best than visiting the natural Tuscan beauty during this magical time of the year?
Florence Noel is one of the most visited Christmas Fairs from November 29th to December 2nd at the Stazione Leopolda. Here for 7 euros you can enjoy the House of Santa and visit the many stands. The Weihnachtsmarkt is the German market that is a must see. Rich with typical German foods and crafts, the market is open from the end of November in Piazza Santa Croce until December 16th when the market becomes an Italian Christmas fair with all the typical Italian foods and pastries and Christmas ornaments. The markets are open from 10 am to 8 pm.
Christmas in the Tuscan countryside is one where Tuscan people enjoy the company of close family and loved ones. The dinner table is the gathering place at Christmas time.
Torrita di Siena presents Mercatino di Natale “Artisti nei Borghi” (“Street Artists”). On the 13 and 14th of December artisans will display their Christmas creations altogether with the local Christmas customs. In Pisa the many Christmas shops offer local crafts , toys, pastries and many eno-gastronomic delicacies. Christmas markets are in Via di Banchi, Logge di Banchi, Largo Ciro Menotti, Corso Italia, Borgo Stretto, Via A. Paparelli, Via Centofanti, Largo San Zeno, Largo del Parlascio, Piazza San Paolo a Ripa d’Arno, Piazza Caduti di Cefalonia. The markets are open from 8:30 am until 9:30 pm.
Greve in Chianti from December 14th to the 21st celebrates “Waiting for Christmas”, a gorgeous market located in Piazza Mattetori from 10 am to 6 pm.
On december 1 and 2 in Massarosa, between the hills of Versilia and Lago Massaciuccoli, offers the Christmas Fair “Magie del Natale” (Christmas Magics), that gathers local crafts, chocolates from the local artisans, nativity scenes, and more. December 2 visitors will be able to learn how to create their floreal center table to adorn the Christmas table and an experienced chef will teach how to prepare delicious Christmas pastries. The fais is open on December 1 from 3 pm to 7:30 pm. And on the 2nd from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm.
These are just few fairs and markets that during the coming weeks will make every corner of Tuscany a merry place to visit. If Tuscany is always worth your while, at Christmas it is only the more so.
