Top Quality Seaside in Tuscany

tuscany-beachVery understandably even in 2009 Tuscany won the top position among Italian regions for the quality of the sea and the coast, thanks to the 12 municipalities that have earned the European Blue Flag for their excellent management of the territory. The characteristics of the Tuscan coast reflect very well the requirements of FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), which are excellent water conditions, depurative plants, increased garbage recycling, maximum liveability, and savvy traffic regulations.

Unsurpassed scenery and landscapes that leave open-mouthed, a gift that nature has made and that these municipalities continue to maintain through a sustainable policy where respect and care for the environment are at its core. The success in making the sea safe and clean for everyone and in implementing quality services make Tuscany in Italy and the world a destination absolutely not to be missed.

The blue flag began to flutter in Camaiore, Versilia, Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio. It continues on the coast Pisa Tirrenia, Calambrone and Marina di Pisa until you reach the coast of Grosseto with Castiglione della Pescaglia, Monte Argentario, Follonica, Principina a Mare, and Marina di Grosseto. On the Etruscan coast the municipalities of Livorno with Antignano and Quercianella, Rosignano Marittimo with Castiglioncello and Vada, Castagneto Carducci, Cecina, Bibbona, San Vincenzo and Piombino with Riotorto and Natural Park Sterpaia won the blue flag.

Grosseto has also been awarded for Castiglione della Pescaglia, Marina di Grosseto, Cala Galera, Punta Ala, Marina di San Rocco and Monte Argentario.

500 kilometers of coasts which alternate between sandy and rocky, seaside resorts that offer not only fun but also culture, nature and history, each gulf and bay has something to offer to its visitors.
