Only two days left to the beginning of Italia Wave Love Festival, the Tuscan international music event that every year hosts names such as Chemical Brothers, Sergent Garcia, Gnarls Barkley and many others. From July 16th to the 19th of 2009 is the second edition of this festival that gathers all the experience of what used to be the Arezzo Wave Love Festival, an experience that lasted 20 years in the small but vibrant Tuscan city.
Livorno is the new home of this music festival, and its scope has been enlarged to include several music genres and other areas of entertainment. Five are the stages located all over the town to accommodate the many music genres that are played at this 4-day music event. The main stage will be complemented by the Elettrowave stage, Psycho Stage, WakeUp Stage, and Cult Wave stage. Sports lovers will also be able to socialize and play at the Sportwave arena with street soccer, street basketball, Parkur and a marathon. All stages except the main stage are free admittance (the first day even the main stage is free admittance!).
Each day starts at 10AM with the WakeUp Stage, a series of concerts by Italian and international artists until 1PM. At 3PM concerts start again on the Psycho Stage until 7:00PM. In parallel, from 6PM to 8PM, a series of conferences on music takes place in Fortezza Vecchia. Here is also where the Electronic Sunset concerts start at 4PM until 7PM showcasing a series of Italian and international turntablism, scratch, live remix, and electro beat drum and bass wizards alternating at the consoles.
At 7PM at the Stadio Comunale starts the main event of the day, which will be free on the 16th of July. Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk, Bandabardo, SKA-P, Placebo, Pure Reason Revolution and Caparezza are some of the names on the main stage. The second day will include Electrowave from at the PalaLivorno with 2manydjs, Jon Hopkins, Ellen Allien, dOP, DEDA, Apes on Tapes and many others. Admittance is 22 Euros.
A very interesting initiative is to offer free admittance to all those that will bring in a pair of old sports shoes at each event. This will save you 25 or 22 Euros for each main event of Italia Wave Festival! Bring along your old tennis shoes then! One pair for each event.
In addition to music events, there are theater, cinema, comics, sports and meeting events to make of Italia Wave a very complete series of artistic happenings.
