The Clinton Foundation, by Bill Clinton the former president of the United States, made public the news on December 18th, 2008 to comply with the transparency policy according to Hillary Clinton’s nomination as secretary of state under the Obama administration.

The Monte dei Paschi and the Environment Italian Ministry figure in the list of financiers.
During the last weeks Hillary Clinton’s ties to foreign entities from all over the world have risen questions on possible conflicts of interest with her nomination as secretary of state and her husband’s foundation.

The president elected Barack Obama has mandated the list of the financiers to be public as a condition for Hillary Clinton to be appointed secretary of state. The list is available on the Foundation’s website (here an extract from the Wall Street Journal).

Among the most generous donors figure Michael Schumacher, the Bill e Melinda Gates Foundation and Elton John.

The Clinton Foundation has totaled 41 million dollars. Among the most generous Italian contributors is the Monte dei Paschi di Siena. Other Italian donors are the Italian Environment Ministry, Autogrill, De Agostini, Enel, Lottomatica, and Pirelli.

So, whenever you think of the Clinton Foundation, spare a thought on Siena too! :)
