If you are going to be near Pistoia between July 26 and August 22 you will be able to add more zest to your Tuscan holidays.
The festival “Itinerari Musicali, Sentieri Acustici” is organized by the Province of Pistoia with the collaboration of several local organizations under the artistic direction of Riccardo Tesi, and held from July 26 to August 22 in Agliana, Pescia and Montagna Pistoiese. The program includes concerts, workshops to learn the rudiments of playing an instrument, dance workshops, music courses, hiking in green areas and gastronomic events. Brazilian music is the protagonist of the 2009 edition with Brazilian percussion and Capoeira courses and the performance of musicians such as Trio Madeira, one of the cornerstone of the history of Brazilian music.
“Itinerari Musicali” features free concerts at various locations in the province of Pistoia from July 26 to August 18. From August 19 to 22 on the Montagna Pistoiese continues the week of the Festival Sentieri Acustici. The most important moment of the festival is the one dedicated to the original production of Caterina Bueno. Another central moment among the music events will be held at Palazzetto Pertini in Bardalone, where Nada Malanima will perform.
Other initiatives of the festival include: hiking in the woods with the organization “L’alfabeto della Montagna”, excursions to and through the historic places of the area with visits to hamlets off the beaten track, and local delicacies festivals to be enjoyed with samplings and food tasting of typical local products. Finally there will be courses, workshops, book presentations and video projections on the festival themes.
